The main thing I want you to remember, as you look at this nice little nail placed in here, is that it has killed the rotator cuff (yellow arrow 1) and has some beads for the infection (yellow arrow 3) and I don't know what this is for (yellow arrow 2) and it is broken down here (distal locking hole - yellow arrow 4).

This is a year out and the surgeon has been telling the patient, "Don't worry Sadie, it will heal." It is interlocked, and it is not doing very well. You see how it has scalloped out and eroded all the bone. I know it can be said "that this nail was not done very well. With the proper technique, this fracture would have healed."

However, even some of the best surgeons have complications and the results aren't always good. If you can obtain (by closed means) a 95% union rate for the usual fracture, then let's start with that.
