The bulbocavernosus is a familiar test. The bulbocavernosus reflex indicates the end of spinal shock - something that usually lasts about 24 hours. At the conclusion of spinal shock, sensory, motor and reflex re-evaluation will more accurately determine if this is a complete vs. incomplete spinal cord injury.
