Notes on observing a case of prone SI screw placement taken during visit with Joel Matta, USC in the mid eighties:
"Patient is placed prone on diving board OR extension. Spine Stabilization board between 2 OR tables is adequate. Must be able to freely arc 40° cephalad and caudad. C-Arm should have minimum 100 Kv capability. Wig-wag manuever important for visualization. "Whiteout " is usually 2° to unobstructed passage of xray beam thru the pelvic inlet-outlet (encountered mainly with caudad view) . Move the beam laterally in such cases."
